Below are photos associated with Ed's Advanced Training from November 1943 to January 7 1944 at Lubbock Army Air Field, Lubbock, Texas. It was officially called the Army Air Force's Advanced Pilot School (Twin Engine). Here Ed learned to fly the twin-engine Cessna AT-17.

This photo from Wings Aloft for the Cadets of 44-A at Lubbock shows the pilots in Element 2. It is believed that these pilots trained together on the twin engine. Standing left to right:

This is the Army Air Cadet Graduation Day photo for Group 44-A from Lubbock Army Air Field. This photo is one of many that day as all the men in this photograph have surnames in the J's and K's. Those later assigned to the 398th are shown in italics; though, there may be others. Upon graduation, the men received the coveted silver wings. "He Wears a Pair of Silver Wings" was one of the popular songs of the era. The men are wearing their new forest green officer's blouses, with Army Air Corps patch on the left shoulder, and pink officer's trousers. Standing (viewer left to right):

At Army Air Cadet graduation the men became commissioned officers and became qualified pilots. They were granted their wings and allowed to wear then on the left chest. This portrait of 2nd Lt. Ed Jordan is from his class book Wings Aloft for the Cadets of 44-A at Lubbock, Texas. |
