Getting Back and New Assignments in the USA
Nuthampstead to the USA and New Assignments
After their tours, the men were sent back to the USA. Many crews sailed back while a few flew. Generally there were more aircraft flying to England than returning. Thus flying back was infrequent. After leave, the men were assigned to other duties such as training instruction.
The following 398th web site articles include information about Getting Back and New Assignments. Note that in some cases the information may be just a few sentences within a story. However, even though just a few sentences or paragraphs, the reader will begin to get a feel for how the veterans returned to the USA and what their next assignments were.
