A partial list of 398th mission target cities and locations has been constructed below to assist in the location of various locations, many now with different names and spellings than they were then.
The mission target city name commonly referred to the name of a city or nearby city encompassing or near the actual target. Actual targets were military targets such as marshaling yards, bridges, gun emplacements, etc.
Notes:
- Don Parks, 398th member and nephew of John Bornstedt, 601st pilot constructed the original table for 21 target cities.
- Sven Sünberg from the Cologne area of Germany volunteered completed most of an additional 59 missions.
- David Nixon, great nephew of 602nd navigator 2nd Lt. Edwin Steinberger, completed an additional 115 missions, from October 1944 through April 1945.
- We still need Volunteers to complete missions 59 through 91 (August to October 1944).
